Hi,

I am trying to upgrade the Z stepper motor on my OpenSPIM setup to achieve improved Z resolution. I am currently using a Thorlabs PT3 stage with the Picard stepper motors and twister to get a 4D stage. The new motor is a Thorlabs DRV001 connected via a Thorlabs BSC201 controller.

I set up a new hardware configuration and added the new DRV001 stepper motor to my existing config (naming it Thorlabs Z Stage) so that I could test the system before physically replacing the Picard Z stepper motor on the setup.

The DRV001 is controlled nicely by the 64bit ThorlabsAPTStage Device Adapter (https://www.dropbox.com/s/9ewwtxe1k2elmft/ThorlabsAPTStage_64bit.zip <https://www.dropbox.com/s/9ewwtxe1k2elmft/ThorlabsAPTStage_64bit.zip>) and can be controlled using the Stage Control plugin under Device Control with no problem.

When I try to use the “Acquire SPIM Image” plugin I get the error message: “Your setup appears to be invalid. Please make sure you have a camera and 4D stage set up. You may need to restart Micro-Manager for the OpenSPIM plugin to detect the correct setup”. A restart of Micro-Manager does not fix this.

What I would like to do is simply change the Z Stage stepper motor under the “Manage Devices” options of “Acquire SPIM Image” from the Picard Z Stage to my new Thorlabs Z Stage (i.e. the DRV001).

I would be happy to try and modify the “Acquire SPIM Image” plugin if someone could give me some assistance in get started doing so?

I look forward to hearing any suggestions.

Kind regards,
Ben
