[OpenSPIM] need Firewire?

Hello Aryeh,

At the time we were using a Hamamatsu Orca ER, which is firewire based, hence the need for a computer with a firewire port. A portable laptop computer is a nice thing to have, but not necessary.

Nowadays we cover many more models of camera, and I would personally suggest that you buy a sCMOS due to their larger field of view and improved speed.

Best Regards,
Pete

Subject: [OpenSPIM] need Firewire?

We are considering building the SPIM microscope.
I see that the parts list contains a macbook which is meant run Windows, with the explanation that the driver s require windows but a mac is needed for the firewire.
Which hardware in the list requires firewire?

Also, are the archives search-able? I tried looking there, but I did not know how to search, and in a quick random search I did not get lucky.

Thank in advance
