> When it hangs, do you mean it gives you the missing VC Express error? Or does it actually, physically stop doing anything?
Here is the sequence of event: 
	- I double click the OpenSPIM-dev-env-XXXX.exe 
	- I pick the folder where to install
	- The 7z unarchiver unpacks the ~200Mb of files. (see screenshot for the content of the folder where things are extracted) 
	- The Command prompt requesting for VCExpress installation appears (other screenshot).
	- I close the terminal window. Nothing else happens.

> In the former case, it means there's a problem with detecting VC Express. Using regedit, please check the following registry keys:
> - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\VCExpress\10.0\InstallDir (it should match the path you gave me above)

 I indeed have the correct path in this entry.
 
> - HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\VCExpress.DTE\CurVer (the default value should have something like "VCExpress.DTE.10.0")

Nothing at that location; however, I found it at:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\VCExpress.DTE\CurVer  and indeed contains "VCExpress.DTE.10.0"
